The Lion and The Mouse

image

A Lion was sleeping peacefully when he was woken by something running up and down his back and over his face.

Pretending to be still asleep, the Lion slowly opened one eye and saw that it was a little mouse.

With lightening speed the Lion reached out and caught the little mouse in one of his large paws. He dangled it by its tail and roared, “I’m the King of Beasts! You’ll pay with your life for showing me such disrespect.”

The Lion held the little mouse over his huge open jaws and prepared to swallow it.

“Please, please don’t eat me, Mr King of Beasts, Sir,” squeaked the mouse. “If you forgive me this time and let me go I’ll never, never forget it.”

“I may be able to do you a good turn in the future to repay your kindness,” it squeaked.

“You, do me a favour!” roared the Lion with laughter. “That is the funniest thing I’ve ever heard.”

Still laughing, the Lion put the mouse down on the ground and said; “You’ve made me laugh so much I can’t eat you now. Go on, off you go before I change my mind.”

The little mouse scurried away as fast as its little legs could go.

Not long after this the Lion was caught in a trap by some hunters. They tied him to a tree with rope while they went to get their wagon.

The little mouse was nearby and came when he heard the mighty Lion’s roar for help.

The mouse gnawed the rope with his sharp teeth and set the Lion free.

“I know you didn’t believe me, but I told you I could help you one day,” squeaked the little mouse. “Even a little mouse like me can help some one as big and strong as you.”

“Thank you my little friend. I won’t forget that lesson,” said the Lion as he ran away before the hunters returned.

The End

What is the moral of this story?

Little friends may prove to be great friends.
Good things come in small packages.
No act of kindness, no matter how small, is ever wasted.

The Baby Polar Bear

Once upon a time far, far away in Antarctica there was a happy family. Snow, the polar bear lived with his mother. Snow was very happy with his life he had always enjoyed the time he spent with his mother so that's why he was happy the one day when the temperature started rising and and the ice was melting.
Snow started walking next to his mom but soon he noticed changes in the every day views. Spring had come early to the arctic, most animals had started coming out of there long winter homes. Almost all of the ice was gone by now. Day by day the ice would crack and spread apart melting. Now even as Snow thought he saw some ice breaking. Snow turned to his mother and asked
“ How did this happen?”
“ I don't know” she answered with a sigh.
“ Look” Snow said, "it's a polar bear".
“Oh my” His mother said, she needs help. Way of in the distance there was a baby polar bear. She sat shivering and calling her mothers name. Then they heard a sound of running behind them.
“ No!, no”. A mother polar bear stood behind them.
“ My baby!” she shouted and got ready to jump into the water. She was a young mother hardly any older than snow, who couldn't even swim yet. Just as she was about to jump into the water Snow's mother stopped her. If you go in the water you'll die.
“ What” she said looking back towards her cub.
“ The water is to cold and you are to young to swim that far” she said sadly.
“ I cant just leave my baby” She said tears in her eyes,
“ She's counting on me” She said. Mother sighed and said “I'll go”
“ What!” I said scared for my mothers life,
“ You stay here” she said.
“ But mom!” I said
“ What if you don't come back?” she smiled
“ oh silly of course I will” As snow sat there he saw his mother swim away. He saw her get to the little piece of ice. He saw her bringing the cub back. He also saw the tiredness in her eyes as her paws beat the water, he saw how her paws got slower and slower as the cold took over. “Come on mom! you can make it” he said. But the current started to pull them both away. “No” said the cubs mom as she jumped into the water ignoring all odds. She swam the rest of the way to snows mother put the cub on her back then started trying to pull snows mom towards the shore. But she was too heavy and old, the young mother was not strong enough to pull her to safety, it was either snows mom or the mother and cub. Snow knew he was being selfish, his mom had lead a long life even for a bear and the cubs life had just began. He knew what his mother would do.
“Let me go” she said and then she pushed of of the mothers' body. The swift current quickly pulled her under the water. The mother and cub swam on to the shore. Snow sat there dumbfounded.
“ Why does this have to happen to me?” He thought.
He sank on to the now hard cold ice and his world went black. As he dreamed he saw his mother smiling looking down at him. Suddenly he felt a cold jab at his stomach and returned to consciousness.
He woke to see the face of a small seal looking at him.
“Are you okay?” she asked hesitantly. Snows mother had never taught him how to hunt, and he knew that seals where food but he was to sad to take a life.
“ No” Snow answered looking at the floor.
“I'm sorry” she said,“I saw what happened to your mother”
“Oh” Snow said.
“It'll be alright though” she said.
“ Oh and my name is Jenny” she said.
“ Hi Jenny, I'm Snow” he replied. After talking to each other for a couple days they soon became best friends and decided that they wanted to set out together to find the killers of Snow's parents.

THREE WEEKS LATER
Snow was not paying attention to Jenny. She had just said something and he got ready to reply when he heard a big slosh of water. Then he heard a horrible sound.
“ Help me, Help me snow” Jenny shouted. She cried out in pain as he turned to see her in the jaws of a killer whale. The whale had been watching Jenny for for a while, she looked pretty good. He was not particularly hungry but he loved playing with his food and that's what he wanted to do with Jenny. The one thing he didn't notice is the adolescent polar bear standing on the ice a couple feet behind her.
Snow could not stand to see another person he loved to die. But he knew what to do. He stood up on his hind legs and attacked the whale, he bit hard and Jenny fell out of the whale's mouth. The whale not expecting the bite from behind got scared an hurriedly swam away. Jenny lie there on the ground bleeding, as Snow walked over.
“ Snow”, Jenny muttered
“ You didn't let it kill me”. Snow was so relived that Jenny was not that hurt. She was his best friend an he loved her. His new resolution was to help Jenny with anything she wanted. Later that week Snow slowly started nursing Jenny back to health. She had been hurt but she could survive and would be fine in a couple weeks.

2 weeks later, when Jenny was able to swim again they continued their journey. They had been walking for a really long time. Snows legs ached and Jenny's tail was sore. They were both really hungry. They usually ate what ever they could, fish small animals and anonymous meat. Jenny was swimming beside him when she saw something in the water and dove under. Snow hurriedly rushed to the bank afraid that something had happened to jenny. But a few second later she reemerged with a huge fish squirming in her mouth. Snow started jumping up and down exited at the prospect of food.
“ How did you do that” He said. Snow had always been the one to catch the food. Jenny tried to mumble something but couldn't because of the fish in her mouth. Finally the fish stopped moving and jenny set it down on the bank at snows feet.
“ You have that one” she said “ I can catch another one for me”
“ Are you sure” he said “Yes I am” she said and dove back under. And again she re emerged with a fish. They slept there that night snuggled together for warmth. In the morning they got up, ate more fish and got ready to go. They soon noticed that they couldn't go any farther. They had gotten to the thin ice.
“ What do we do now?” Snow asked jenny. “We swim across” Jenny said.
“ I don't know how to swim” he answered.
“Go head try” she said. Snow started hesitantly walking across the ice. Then suddenly he herd a loud crack and fell through. He tried to hold on the the ice but his claws slipped. Snow sunk deeper and deeper into the freezing cold water.

Jenny saw what had happened, it was her time to save him. She dove into the water. Under water she saw snows eyes starting to flutter and close as the water went into his lungs. She didn't know if she was strong enough to accomplish what she was trying, but she would go ahead with it anyway.
She swam forward pushing her muscles in her tail hard ramming into snow's chest. With the help of Jenny's tail He was pushed out of the water.
He lay gasping on the ice for the water was still in his lungs. Jenny jumped up on the bank and again rammed Snows back. The rest of the water came out of his mouth. “Are you alright?” Jenny asked.
“ Yeah I think so” Snow said after coughing a couple times.
“ I was so scared”
They slept on the ice that night. Thinking through there adventure and how it had changed there lives.
The next day jenny started teaching snow how to swim. She had decided it was really important to not let snow ever drown again. At first snow was scared to get into the water again but once Jenny convinced snow to try they learned that snow was pretty good at swimming. When snow was sure he could survive in the water they set out again. This time confident that they could handle anything that came at them.
They set of again. They had been walking for a while when the suddenly smelled something unusual.
“ Maybe it can lead us to the killers” snow said
“ I can smell it in the water, that's not good”
“ Lets go” snow said. So again the set of in a different direction. They had been walking and swimming for a while when they saw a giant building.
The smell had noticeably been getting worse day by day, so they where not surprised when they saw the building.
“ Lets go in side” he said. Snow had grown since Jenny had met him. Now he could easily carry jenny on his back so that's what he had to do. Jenny had never been good on land but with Snow she knew she was safe. As they where walking snow and Jenny saw countless bodies of animals that had died because of the humans. The animals had gotten so hungry and tired they starved. Snow and Jenny where mad. How could people do this to their family?
“ Lets go” Snow said. Jenny saw the determined expression on his face and new what she could do.
“ Okay” Jenny said “I will chew the rope on there anchors so there boats float away”
“ I don't want to hurt anyone” Snow said.
“ We wont have to” jenny said “Well meet back here when were done” snow said
“ Be safe” she replied and swam away. Snow watched her until she was gone then he set of towards the tents.
Mean while Jenny was busy gnawing on the ropes attached to the boat. She head a sound above her and looked up.
“ Hey look!” a big man said.
“ Wait, its chewing our ropes” There was a sound of feet on the deck then the man leaned over the balcony and pointed a gun at Jenny's head. Jenny knew by this time enough of weaponry that she knew to dive under water as fast as she could. Even under water the sound of the gun shot was defining. She saw the bullet speed past her only a meter away, then hit the sand at the bottom. She swam away quickly hoping that nothing would happen to snow.
Snow was pacing back and forth in front of a door. He didn't know if he should enter the room. He knew these were the people that made the ice melt so his mother died, but he was still scared. He walked forward and the door burst open. A man walked out. He was small compared to Snow but he had his gun out in a second pointed it at snow. Snow dove for a big piece of metal of to the side. He head the gunshots and he felt one burn his fur as it came close to his body. Behind the scrap metal he could hear the man slowly walking towards him.
“ Here kitty kitty” He said.

Snow was mad these people had caused the ice melting they had killed all these animals and now they were going to try to kill him. It was time for him to stand up. He knew he was intimidating to the humans but he was still scared. The human came around he bend. Snow stood on his hind legs and roared. To terrified to move the human drooped his gun. And turned ruing back into the tent where he came from. Snow ran after him growling the whole way. He burst into the tent. The humans were standing in a circle discussing something. One of them turned and gasped. They started talking again, then one of them turned and started talking to snow. Snow didn't know what he was saying but he knew that they weren't trying to hurt him.

They were slowly dropping their weapons and backing away. He didn't know why but he knew that because of something he and Jenny had done the humans where leaving the arctic for good. All of there machines and giant houses where going, leaving. Hopefully forever. Maybe once the humans left everything would go back to normal. No super short winters and ice breaking. Even as Snow thought about it he knew that nothing would ever be the same. The damage was done. Things might get better and things might get worst, either way though he knew that he had Jenny and at this point that was all that mattered.

The Monkey And The Turtle

image Long ago, a monkey and a turtle lived together as friends in a forest. They always helped each other out when they had difficulties. Although they were friends, sometimes the monkey tricked the turtle. But the turtle was always honest and tried to be a good friend to the monkey.

One sunny day, the two animals were taking a fresh water bath in the river. While they were enjoying their bath, they saw the trunk of banana tree in the water. They immediately swam towards the tree and pushed it towards the river bank.

The turtle said,”My friend, what would you think if the two of us planted this banana tree together? We could harvest the fruit together later.”

The monkey replied,”That’s a good idea! Let’s cut the tree into two and plant it. You get the lower part of the tree and I get the upper part.”

The monkey thought: the leafy part was the one that bore fruit while the lower part, with the roots, wouldn’t bear fruit even though it would grow after planting. They took the tree out of the water and cut it into two sections. The turtle took his part and planted it in fertile soil. First, he dug a hole in the ground, and then he filled it with dead leaves and other kinds of trash. He then burned the whole thing. Afterwards, he put the fire out with water from the river, and then finally he planted his tree. Meanwhile, the monkey planted his part of the tree in dry soil because he didn’t like mud.

Everyday the turtle took water from the river and watered his tree. Meanwhile, the monkey watered the tree with hot water. Naturally, the monkey’s tree wouldn’t grow even though it had plenty of water. Of course not! It had no roots. So eventually, the tree planted by the monkey withered and died.

Meanwhile the banana tree planted by the turtle was healthy and growing. Buds appeared at the top of the tree. Then the buds slowly became leaves which grew bigger and bigger day by day. After several months, flower began to appear. Soon they turned into fruit. The turtle was very happy watching his banana tree bear fruit. His only problem was that he couldn’t find a way to reach the bananas. He would just have to wait until they were ripe and down naturally.

While the turtle was waiting for his bananas to ripen, the monkey came for a visit. He saw that the bananas on the turtle’s tree were ready to be picked because the green bananas were starting to turn yellow.

The monkey said to the turtle,”Why do you have to wait until they’re all ripe? The birds will eat your bananas and there will be nothing left for you. Why don’t you just let me climb the tree and pick the bananas for you. Then you can eat them right away. And you can keep the rest of the bananas for yourself.”

answered the turtle,”Thanks! If you don’t mind climbing up to get the bananas, we will divide them equally.”

The monkey then climbed the tree. He picked the bananas, but then, with a wicked smile, he started to eat them one by one and he ate until only half were left. Below, the trusting turtle shouted,”Monkey, my friend, why haven’t you dropped any of the bananas for me?” The monkey shouted back,”Wait a second, I just want to taste them.”

Hearing what the monkey said to him, the turtle kept quiet, waiting patiently for the monkey to throw down some bananas. A few minutes later the turtle shouted again, but the monkey’s answer was the same.

The turtle kept asking, but the monkey kept giving the same answer. Finally, nothing was left on the tree. The monkey had eaten all of the bananas. He felt really full and fell asleep on top of the tree.

After waiting such a long time for the bananas, the turtle finally realized that he had been tricked. He started to cry.Just then, a giant crab passed by.He saw the turtle crying and asked,”Why are you crying, my friend?” The turtle replied,”My bananas were all eaten by that cruel monkey. Now he is probably sleeping up on that tree because he has eaten too much. I let him climb the tree to pick the bananas because we agreed to divide them equally, but he didn’t keep his word.”

The giant crab felt sorry for the turtle and said,”Don’t worry. I will help you.But stop crying, that doesn’t solve anyting. Trust me, you will get all of your bananas back. Just do what I say. Stand upside down under the tree with the sharp end of your shell pointing to the top of the tree. I am going to climb the tree and pinch that monkey’s buttocks so that he will suddenly wake up and fall down.”

The turtle did what he was told. The crab quietly climbed up the tree and pinched the monkey’s buttocks as hard as he could. The monkey awoke with a shock. He screamed with pain, lost his balance, and fell from the tree.He fell right on top of the turtle so his stomach was cut by the sharp end of the turtle’s shell. The monkey died instantly, and all of the bananas he had eaten came out, scattered on the ground. the turtle picked them up one by one and thanked the giant crab for his help.
